Abstract
These Regulations prescribe a levy that shall be used to fund development of the dried fruit industry: research projects, information and technology transfer; plant improvement; information and statistics; communication; and transformation and training. The levy is imposed on deciduous fruit produced in or imported into South Africa (dried fruit bought or received by a packer or imported by a packer or processor or produced by a producer). The levy shall be administered by Dried Fruit Technical Services. Dried deciduous fruit means apricots, apples, nectarines, pears, peaches, prunes and vine fruit in any form and subjected to a drying process.
