Abstract
This Notice of the Director-General of the Department of Water Affairs relieves a water user from the need to apply for a licence for impeding the flow of water in a watercourse terms of section 21 of the National Water Act for the purpose of rehabilitation of a wetland for conservation purposes. The authorisation replaces the need for a water user to apply for a licence in terms of the National Water Act for a water use provided that the use is within the conditions set out in this Notice. The Notice does not apply: (a) if a water user must make an application for a licence in terms of section 21 of the Act; and (b) to any activity that may have a potential impact on a wetland in terms of the National Environmental Management Act. The Notice sets out rules relative to the rehabilitation planning process.
