Abstract
This Programme’s purpose is to avoid, manage and mitigate the environmental impacts and risks associated with the activities identified in terms of section 24(2)(a) and (b) of the Act no. 107/1998 (National Environmental Management Act) and to exclude the identified activities associated with the Working for Water Programme from the need to obtain environmental authorisation or permits.
The Authority responsible for implementing the Programme, is the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, under the National Resource Management Programme specifically, or in partnership with the Department responsible for water affairs.
The program indicates the timing and procedures to be followed, including keeping records, for a project to obtain exclusion from authorization. Failure to obtain a registration number prior to commencement of the project constitutes an offence according to the mentioned Act.
