Government Notice no. 3137 of 2023 to update water use information in terms of National Water Act no. 36 of 1998.

This Notice, implementing sections 21 and 36 of the National Water Act no. 36 of 1998, provides for amending the registration of water use and updating water use information included in the Regulation 11 published under Government Notice no. R 1352 of 1999. The amendment to the registration information refers to official change on registration certificate, including the replacement of contact details, and transformation of the Irrigation Boards or Government Water Scheme into Water User Association, and an update of business registration information. The Notice identifies the water users requested to submit an application for amendment of the registration of water use information, in order to: take water from a water resource, store water, engage in a stream flow reduction activity. According to the Notice, only official registration forms may be used. Further matters include: water users exempted from registration; cost of registering a water use; period of registration; offence in case of failure to register a water use.
