Abstract
This Statutory Measure, implementing provisions of sections 13 and 18 of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, no. 47 of 1996, applies within the geographical area of the South Africa to all the fruits and products mentioned in the title, and provides for compelling exporters and growers of fruit to keep records and furnish returns to the responsible authority, in order to ensure that market information in respect of fruit is made available to all role-players in the relevant industry, to improve the efficiency of the market of fruit and the market access for all the participants. The Statutory Measure establishes Agri-Hub as an independent registered company with the purpose of gathering and handling information on behalf of the various fruit industry role-players. Matters covered by this Statutory Measure include: procedure to keep records and data, and to render returns to Agri-Hub; information required, including: type of packaging, inspection date, transport, post-harvest treatments.
