Abstract
This Act provides for amending provisions of the Liquor Products Act no. 11 of 1989. Section 1 of the main Act is amended by replacing certain definitions, including: grapes; import certificate; international obligations. Section 2 is amended by specifying composition and functions of the members of the Wine and Spirit Board. Amendment of Section 4 concerns requirements for producing and selling products containing alcohol. Section 5 is amended by replacing paragraphs concerning wine production methods. Section 11 is amended by inserting a new paragraph on packaging of alcoholic products to sell. Further amendments concern: insertion of a new section, regarding restriction on use of geographical names; making new provisions for the establishment of schemes in respect of liquor products derived from grapes. Section 16 is amended in order to issue import permits in compliance with international obligations. Amendment of Section 23 concerns offences and penalties.

An Act to amend the Liquor Products Act, 1989, so as to insert definitions and to amend and delete others; to provide for the composition of the Wine and Spirit Board; to amend the requirements regarding wine; to extend the particulars required in connection with the sale of liquor products in containers; to empower the Minister to prohibit the use of geographical names under certain circumstances; to make other provisions for the establishment of schemes; to curtail the board's power regarding the import and export of liquor products; to provide for compliance with international obligations; and to extend the Minister's power to make regulations; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
