Abstract
This Act provides for amending provisions of the Liquor Products Act no. 11 of 1989. Section 1 of the main Act is amended by inserting new definitions, including: beer; class designation in relation to any liquor product; by updating the definition of liquor product, including: wine, beer, traditional African beer, any alcoholic fruit or fermented beverage, spirits. Section 2 is replaced by a new one creating the Wine Certification Authority to replace Wine and Spirit Board, and defining its composition and functions, including making investment. Further amendments concern new Sections regarding production of beer, traditional African beer and other fermented beverages; requirements for the issuance of export certificates. Further Sections concerning power of entry and inspection, offences and penalties, are amended by adding gender-equal terms.

An Act to amend the Liquor Products Act, 1989, so as to insert certain definitions and to amend and delete others; to provide for the renaming and reconstitution of the Wine and Spirit Board and to limit its powers; to provide for requirements regarding beer, traditional African beer and other fermented beverages; to repeal a provision in respect of the authorisations regarding certain alcoholic products; to empower the Minister to designate a person to issue export certificates; to align certain provisions with the Constitution; to extend the Minister’s power to make regulations; to provide gender-equal terminology; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
