Abstract
This Notice of the Minister of Environmental Affairs sets norms and standards for sorting, shredding, grinding, crushing, screening or baling of general waste. The purpose of these norms and standards is to provide a uniform approach relating to the management of waste facilities that sort, shred, grind, crush, screen, chip or bale general waste. They apply to waste facilities that have an operational area of 1000 square metres or more. New and existing facilities must be registered with the competent authorities. The facilities must be so located as to give consideration to public health and the environment. The Regulations provide rules for construction, operation decommissioning and inspection of facilities.
