Abstract
This Notice publishes the National Framework for Air Quality Management 2017 as contemplated in section 7 of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004 (Act No. 39 of 2004) and serving as the Department of Environmental Affairs’ Air Quality Management Plan as contemplated in Section 15(1) of the Act. The purpose of the National Framework is to achieve the objectives of the Air Quality Act, 2004, and as such the National Framework provides a medium - to long-term plan of the practical implementation of the Act. The Framework provides mechanisms, systems and procedures to promote holistic and integrated air quality management through pollution prevention and minimisation at source, and through impact management with respect to the receiving environment from local scale to international issues. The documents refers to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
