Abstract
This Notice of the Regional Director of the North West Province, made under the National Water Act, requires all persons who use water as set out in this Notice in defined areas to register their water use as defined in section 21 of the Act in accordance with regulation 3(b) of Regulation No. 1352 of 1999. Water use by members of an Irrigation Board, Water User Association and Government Water Scheme in a distribution system and supplied by a Board, Association or Scheme and taking water from a bulk supplier, are excluded from the requirement of registration. Any person who fails to register shall be guilty of an offence. Activities for which registration of required include: taking of (ground) water, impeding or diverting the flow of water, alteration of beds or banks of a watercourse, irrigation with waste water, discharge of waste water into a water flow, disposal of waste affecting a water flow and storage of water.
