Notice on the request to register a water use (GN. 213 of 2000).

This Notice of the Regional Director of the Northern Cape Region, made under the National Water Act, requires all persons who use water in as set out in this Notice in the Lower Orange and Lower Vaal Water Management Areas to register their water use as defined in section 21 of the Act in accordance with regulation 3(b) of Regulation No. 1352 of 1999. Water uses indicated in Schedule 1 of the Act are excluded from the requirement of registration. Any person who fails to register shall be guilty of an offence. Activities for which registration of required include: taking of (ground) water, impeding or diverting the flow of water, alteration of beds or banks of a watercourse, irrigation with waste water, discharge of waste water into a water flow, disposal of waste affecting a water flow and storage of water.
