Notice requiring persons to apply for a Water Use Licence in terms of section 43(1) of the National Water Act for the purpose of compulsory licensing (No. 709 of 2010).

This Notice of the Department of Water Affairs brings provisions of the National Water Act regarding compulsory licensing into effect for a specified catchment area. The requirement of licensing shall apply to the taking of groundwater or surface water, the storage of water and engaging in a stream flow reduction activity as contemplated in section 36 (afforestation). Licensing is necessary for reasons of equal and beneficial water use and efficient water resources management.
