Abstract
These Regulations of the Minister of Health, made under section 15 of the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act, 1972, concern hygienic requirements for the handling, transport and storage of food. A person may not handle food or allow food to be handled in a manner contrary to the provisions of these Regulations. The Regulations prescribe (hygienic) requirements and standards for premises and persons handling food. Standards shall also regard equipment and containers. Premises shall obtain a certificate of acceptability from a local authority. A provision of these Regulations that is in conflict with the regulations made under the Act with regard to the handling or transport of specific foods is invalid to the extent of the conflict. Activities regarding food may be prohibited by an inspector in certain circumstances. Specific standards are set for dairy products, and for meat and meat products.
