Abstract
With this Notice the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs establishes various animal improvement schemes as contemplated in section 20 of the Animal Improvement Act, 1998.
The schemes prescribe an animal recording programme for various purposes including improvement of the day-to-day farm management, genetic improvement and improved feeding. Schemes are adopted in relation to cattle, beef, milk, small stock, pigs and poultry. The scope of each scheme is set out and criteria for participation in each scheme are established. Some duties imposed on participants concern the control of animal diseases.
