Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 9 (1) of the Water Services Act, no. 108 of 1997, provide for defining compulsory National standards for process controller and water services works. The Regulation define: process controller, as any person with relevant competencies to effectively operate and sustain treatment efficacy of any water services work; registered professional. The Regulations concern: classification of standards of water services works; certification of the owner of a water service work; standards for registration of a process controller; standards for training and education. The attachments include: classification of water services works used for abstraction, treatment and storage of water for human consumption, and disposal of associated waste products; classification of a borehole as a water work used for abstraction and treatment of water for human consumption and household use; criteria for raw water quality; classification of water services works used for the treatment of wastewater and the disposal or re-use of the treated wastewater; reuse types, including: agricultural and landscape irrigation, industrial activities, wastewater reuse and treatment for potable purposes, groundwater recharge.
