Abstract
These Regulations of the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, made under section 4(1)(aA) and (aB) of the National Environmental Management Act, regulate the management and phasing out of Polychlorinated Biphenyls materials and Polychlorinated Biphenyls contaminated materials. They prohibit, except for some defined period for persons registered under these Regulations: (a) use, processing, or production PCB materials or PCB contaminated materials; (b) import of PCB materials or PCB contaminated materials into the Republic of South Africa, or export of PCB materials or PCB contaminated materials from South Africa; or (c) sale PCB materials or PCB contaminated materials in South Africa. A PCB Holder who is registered must develop a phase-out plan and submit it to the Director-General.
