Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 116 of the National Water Act, 1998 (Act no. 36 of 1998), are applicable to all government waterworks and concern: commercial fishing; recreational water use for revenue generation, including organised sporting activities and events; dangerous object; hunting; resource management plan. Matters covered by the Regulations include: access to and control over government waterworks; use of government waterworks; permit application and approval for recreational water use; hygiene procedures and waste management; penalties in case of damage to government waterworks or properties; protection of biodiversity inside government waterworks; ban on hunting, killing or capturing any fauna without specific permission of the authority; restriction on cutting, uprooting or destroying any flora from government waterworks area; prior approval from the competent authority for breeding activities and introduction of new plant and animal species; prohibited activities, including access to and use of government waterworks for commercial fishing; implementation of resource management plant on access and use of government waterworks; suspension and withdrawal of access and use permission; offences and penalties.
