Abstract
These Regulations set out standards and rules for bottled water, i.e. water packed and placed on the market for human consumption. Standards and rules concern the taking of water, treatment, transport and labelling. The Regulations distinguish between and provide separate rules for three types of water: natural water, i.e. natural borehole water, spring water and natural mineral water; water defined by origin, i.e. bottled water originating from an underground or surface water system, which flows naturally from its sources such as artesian water; and prepared water, for example distilled tap water or tap water with minerals added. The Annex to the Regulations contains general requirements applying to all waters.
