Abstract
These Regulations concern the placing on the market of “foodstuffs obtained through certain techniques of genetic modification”.
They principally prescribe rules relative to the labelling of such foodstuffs for sale. If a foodstuff obtained through certain techniques of genetic modification bears a claim with regard to improved or enhanced characteristics such as composition, nutritional value and causing a reduced allergic reaction, such claim shall be validated and certified by a competent body, which shall be accredited to the South African National Accreditation Services.
