Statutory Measure on registration of exporters, importers, processors and purchasers of cotton (No. R. 735 of 2018).

This statutory measure of the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries requires producers and processors of and traders in cotton (cotton lint and seed cotton) to register with Cotton South Africa. The measure shall apply to: persons who produce seed cotton; persons who are parties to the purchase of seed cotton from producers; persons who process seed cotton; persons who are parties to the purchase of cotton lint from producers or ginners; and persons who import or export cotton. Registration is necessary to assist Cotton South Africa in ensuring an adequate supply of market information to market players, in order for them to be able to make informed decisions.
