Local Government (Amendment) Act, 2026.

This Act, consisting of 3 sections and one Appendix, amends the original Act by (i) repealing and replacing Section 53 to strengthen ethical governance by requiring councillors and other designated council members to comply with a common code of ethics and standards of conduct; (ii) repealing and replacing the Third Schedule with the Schedule set out in the Appendix, which establishes the procedures governing the conduct of council business, including meetings, decision-making, committee operations, and the delegation of functions. The Schedule also provides rules on quorum, voting, transparency, conflicts of interest, record-keeping, public access to council proceedings, and the roles, responsibilities, and protections of council officers and committees.
