Abstract
This Act, comprising 4 sections, amends the original Act as follows (i) Section 2 by inserting two new definitions for the “Emoluments Commission” and the “Health Professions Council of Zambia”; (ii) Section 7 by repealing and replacing subsection (1) to restructure the composition of the Board of the Authority, expanding it to include specified ministerial representatives (health, animal health, and commerce), representatives from key professional bodies (Attorney-General, Health Professions Council of Zambia, Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia, Veterinary Association of Zambia, Zambia Medical Association), and one additional qualified person appointed by the Minister; (iii) the First Schedule is amended by revising quorum requirements for Board meetings and by replacing paragraph 4 to provide that Board and committee members’ allowances are to be determined by the Emoluments Commission upon recommendation of the Minister.

Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force on the expiry of the term of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the Board holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after which the Minister shall appoint the members of the Board in accordance with this Act.
