Abstract
This Act, consisting of 4 sections, amends the original text as follows (i) Section 2, by inserting a new definition of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants, recognising it as the institution established under the Accountants Act; (ii) repealing and replacing Section 7 to restructure the composition and governance of the Board of the Minerals Regulation Commission. The new Board includes a Chairperson with relevant expertise and integrity, representatives from the ministries responsible for mines, lands, environment and finance, the Attorney-General, the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants, and representatives from relevant organisations or institutions. The amendment also introduces eligibility criteria for Board members, provides for the election of a Vice-Chairperson, and applies the Schedule to the Board; (iii) Paragraph 3(4) of the Schedule, by increasing the quorum requirement for Board meetings.
