Zambia Wildlife (Amendment) Act, 2026 (Act No.54 of 2026).

This Act, comprising 4 sections, amends the original text as follows (i) Section 2 adds three definitions - the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Emoluments Commission, and “legally disqualified” (referring to lack of legal capacity under the Mental Health Act). The amendment aligns the Act with constitutional institutions and clarifies legal capacity standards; (ii) Section 7 restructures the Committee’s composition and governance, expanding membership to include representatives from key ministries (chiefs, green economy, mines), the Office of the President, the Attorney-General, the Anti-Corruption Commission, and stakeholders from the wildlife, hunting, tourism, civil society, and private sectors. It also introduces stricter eligibility criteria, excluding non-citizens, undischarged bankrupts, legally disqualified persons, and individuals convicted of serious offences under the Act or other laws; (iii) the First Schedule is amended by renaming the body as the “Wildlife Management Licensing Committee” and introducing technical adjustments to ensure consistency between the main Act and its regulatory framework.
