Zambia Wildlife (International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) Regulations, 2007 (S.I. No. 61 of 2007).

These Regulations, made by the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources under sections 113 and 144 of the Zambia Wildlife Act, place restrictions on the international trade in specimen of endangered animal and plant species and give effect in Zambia to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. They also, among other things, provide with respect to matters of administration and provide for control of production of captive-bred animals and artificially propagated plants for commercial trade of species listed in the First Schedule to these Regulations.
The Zambia Wildlife Authority is designated as the management authority and scientific authority for purposes of these Regulations and the Convention. The Authority shall designate a Management Directorate and a Scientific Directorate. The Minister responsible for fisheries shall designate an appropriate management authority and scientific authority for fish species set out in the First Schedule. The Management Directorate shall, among other things, grant permits and certificates in accordance with these Regulations and the Convention. Export of any specimen of species included in the First Schedule require an export permit, which shall only be granted if certain specified conditions are met. Import of any specimen listed in the First Schedule shall require a sanitary or a phytosanitary certificate from the country of export or re-export. Any person intending to import, export or re-export any specimens of any species listed in the First Schedule shall register with the Management Directorate. The Management Directorate shall issue a pre-Convention certificate where it is satisfied that certain conditions respect to specimen of a species is met.
