Abstract
The council shall prepare an environmental action plan for the area under its jurisdiction in terms of section 95 of the Environmental Management Act [Chapter 20:27] and meet what established by the bylaws in respect of notification, publication, advice, objection procedures, amendment, etc. The Bylaws also provide specifically in respect of any area set aside in a plan for: grazing of livestock; cultivation; conservation of natural resources; etc. Other provisions concern waste management; EIA; burning of crops; environmental rehabilitation works on abandonment of project; invasive alien species; protection of wetland; cutting of trees; forest produce; Collection or removal of gravel, stones, river sand and pit sand; Protection of water sources; Bio-diversity protection; Protection of wildlife and indigenous plants; air pollution; mining; protection of genetic resources; among others.
