Abstract
The Mana Pools National Park General Management Plan document should be read in conjunction with Part 2 (Background) as this contain the information on which many of the decisions in the plan are based. Four Management Programmes have been identified below are their key components: 1) Biodiversity (Monitoring and Information base improved; Research; Resource Management; Wildlife Management; Anti-poaching ; Management of key habitats improved; Wildlife populations and diversity are maintained or enhanced; Human impacts on the ecosystem are controlled). 2) Tourism ( Tourism product is improved, expanded and diversified without degrading the quality of the Mana experience; Management and administration of tourism improved;. Educational and interpretive facilities, activities and materials developed, etc). 3) Park Management (Improvement of Access, Buildings, Staffing, Morale, Communications, Finances) 4) Neighbours (Communities, Trans-Frontier Issues, External operators/Hunters).
