National Climate Policy, 2017.

The National Climate Policy (Policy) provides for climate adaptation and mitigation measures including specific policies identified for key sectors in Zimbabwe. It consists of 8 chapters: 1. Introduction; 2. Climate Change Adaptation; 3. Climate Change Mitigation and Low Carbon Development; 4. Education, Training and Awareness; 5. Weather, Climate Research and Modelling; 6. Technology Transfer and Information Sharing; 7. Governance and Institutional Framework; and 8. Conclusion.
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to climate change impact in Zimbabwe and lays down the principles of the Policy. Chapter 2 contains specific policies for climate change adaptation in the following sectors: Water; Agriculture; Health; Forestry and Biodiversity; Infrastructure; Human Settlement. Chapter 3 sets out low carbon development measures to accelerate climate change mitigation in the following sectors: Energy; Industrial Processes; Waste; Agriculture and Land-use, Land-use-change and Forestry. Chapter 4 enumerates the actions in respect of climate education and training, public awareness and communication and Indigenous Knowledge Systems. Chapter 5 lays down specific policies to develop and strengthen capacity in weather, climate research and modelling. Chapter 6 highlights the importance of technology transfer and information sharing for adaptation and mitigation to reduce vulnerability to the diverse and complex impacts of climate change. Chapter 7 delves into financial resource allocation and mobilisation, collaboration at national and international levels and gender and social inclusion to address the climate change issues.
