Abstract
This Act establishes the Research Council of Zimbabwe as a body corporate, defines its functions and powers, provides with respect to its administration and operations and makes provision with respect to the control and promotion of research in Zimbabwe.
The Council shall generally promote, supervise and coordinate research in the interest of Zimbabwe and exercise control over research councils, safety boards or institutions to be established by the Minister under this Act or which otherwise fall under its control pursuant to this Act. The Council shall also, among other things, advise and make recommendations to the Minister. The Act also concerns precautions in relation with any form of research or undertaking which, in the Council’s opinion, poses or is likely to pose a danger to persons, animals or plants or to the environment generally. The Minister, the Council and safety boards shall have duties and powers in this field.
