Definitions

The legal system of a country or a subnational entity (for example, in a federally organized State, there is a national jurisdiction and provincial or state jurisdictions. Jurisdiction also refers to the power of a national, regional or international court or other tribunal to hear cases make decisions in a specific area of law (for example, environmental law, heritage law, natural resources law, trade law).
