Description

The waste management hierarchy concept encompasses prevention, minimization, reuse, recycling, other types of recovery, including energy recovery, and final disposal. Waste prevention should be the preferred option in any waste management policy. This policy approach may inspire a regulatory choice focused on the production of and consumer demand for single-use plastic products instead of on recycling and waste recovery efforts.
