Abstract
The aim of the decree is to eradicate infectious bovine rhinotracheitis on the basis of the following measures: (a) The collection of epidemiological data on IBR to enable surveillance of bovine herds. (b) The classification of herds into categories compensated or not compensated for IBR. (c) The application of restrictive measures to the movement of animals and herds not compensated for IBR.
The Decree establishes compulsory prevention measures, including systematic serological screening and vaccination, as well as control measures.
The Decree also establishes the conditions under which a herd can be considered free of IBR. Finally, it identifies measures to combat the virus in animals found with a positive serological result: they must be isolated from the rest of the herd and may not enter common grazing areas or participate in groupings, such as competition fairs or other temporary gatherings.
