Abstract
This Act amends the Antigua and Barbuda Merchant Shipping Act, 2006 in respect of, among other things registration of ships and the implementation in Antigua and Barbuda of the Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage 2001, the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-Fouling Systems on Ships, 2001, the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004, the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims 1976, as amended by the Protocol of 1996 and the Maritime Labour Convention. The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 and the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims 1976, as amended by the Protocol of 1996, the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-Fouling Systems on Ships, 2001, and the Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage 2001 shall have the force of law in Antigua and Barbuda. Implementation concerns, among other things, port state measures (denial of entry into port, inspections) compliance duty and offences.
