Abstract
After the occurrence in Antigua and Barbuda of any hurricane, earthquake, fire or flood, the Cabinet may declare by proclamation in the Gazette that a state of emergency exists. Duration of the proclamation is not more than one month, without prejudice to the issue of another proclamation at or before the end of that period. This Act sets forth provisions on the notification of the Legislature regarding the proclamation of emergency, authorization of the Cabinet to make orders, and offences and penalties. In case that the proclamation of emergency has been in force for long periods, the Cabinet may make orders for requisitioning and regulating the supply and distribution of food, clothing, water, fuel, light and other necessities of life in order to preserve the health, welfare and safety of the public.
