Abstract
This Act delimits the maritime areas of Antigua and Barbuda.
This Act consists of 35 sections. Limits of internal and archipelagic waters, territorial sea, contiguous zone, continental shelf, exclusive economic zone and fishery zone and their methods of measurement are defined respectively in sections 3 to 11. The Act asserts the degree of jurisdiction of Antigua and Barbuda over the various maritime zones (sects. 12 to 15). The freedom of navigation is recognized in the exclusive economic zone (sect. 16). With regard to the freedom of navigation within the territorial sea a foreign ship shall be entitled to enjoy the right of innocent passage (sect. 18). Enforcement power enables authorized officers to stop, board, arrest and bring into port offending vessels and arrest the captain (sects. 22 and 30).
