Abstract
This Act establishes the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board, provides for the designation of the Registrar of Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals, defines functions and powers of the Board and the Registrar and provides rules relative to handling and marketing of pesticides and toxic chemicals.
The Board shall, among other things: (a) provide advice to the Minister; (b) determine applications for registration, licences and research permits to be granted under this Act; and (c) certify pest control operators. Use of pesticides and toxic chemicals requires a licence. The Act further defines offences in relation to controlled products (listed in Schedule 2), defines other offences, provides for the appointment of analysts, inspectors and medical examiners, provides rules for record keeping and reporting and provides for appeal against decisions of the Board and regulation-making powers of the Minister.
