Decision N. 683, dated 2 September 2020 on the creation, organization and functioning of the national authority for veterinary and plant protection.

This Decision, based on the provisions of the Law No.10465 dated 29.9.2011 on the veterinary service in the Republic of Albania, sets the creation, organization and operation of the national authority for veterinary and plant protection, as a public budget legal entity, depending on the minister responsible for veterinary medicine, with headquarters in Tirana. It shall be financed from the state budget and other legal sources. The mission is to guarantee the protection of health and well-being of animals, the protection of public health in the Republic of Albania from zoonotic diseases transmitted by animals and the protection of plants, through the direction of the activity of official control and other veterinary activities within the scope of responsibility, and the provision of plant protection service from pests and diseases. This particular state authority shall be responsible: a) to direct the veterinary service, within the scope of responsibility; b) to organize the work for the performance of official controls and other veterinary activities; c) to organize the work for the provision of pest control and plant protection services.
