Abstract
The Guideline sets forth maximum permissible limits of air polluting and noise emissions produced by vehicles. Users of vehicles, foreign or locals, must comply with these emission standards. The competent authorities shall inspect the status of gas emanation before vehicles are registered. If the limits are not met, the technical inspection certificate shall not be released and the vehicle shall be turned back for adjustment. Monitoring of air pollution and noises is carried out jointly by the regional environmental agencies and entities owning the roads (municipalities, communes, road directorates). Further provisions concern the setting up of monitoring systems.
