Abstract
The Law establishing the Fund for protection of natural medicinal, ether-oil and tannin plants grown and cultivated in Albania declares these plants to be national property. It consists of 10 sections: Ownership and management procedures depend upon where these plants grow (sect. 1). The General Forestry Directorate and its subordinate organs are entrusted with the protection and development of the cultivation of these plants. The Directorate may determine zones of cultivation, quantity and conditions in state owned areas (2). Harvesting of the plants concerned requires a permission from the appropriate Directorate of Forestry Service (3). Plants of which the existence is endangered shall be included in a list to be published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food every year. The Minister shall declare a period in which harvesting, collecting or exportation of all plants of the endangered species is prohibited (4). The harvesting of natural medicinal, ether-oil and tannin plants shall be carried out in accordance with technical criteria laid down in a Regulation issued by the Ministry (5). The provisions of this Law shall be enforced by the forestry service organs (6).
