Law No. 10.001 amending and supplementing Law No. 7.908 of 1995 on fisheries and aquaculture.

These provisions lay down several amendments and addenda to Law No. 7.908 of 1995 on fisheries and aquaculture. These new provisions stipulate that the number of fishing licences to be issued shall be determined by the Government according to the fishing management plans. Fishing vessels must be licenced by the Minister after the board approval. The right to fish in internal waters is awarded through a public competition. As regards fishing areas managed by organizations, contracts must be signed with the organizations concerned. The fines imposed in case of infringements are increased.
