Abstract
This Law aims at contributing to the promotion and development of the aquaculture industry through supporting the competition and trade in the sector while respecting a balanced and sustainable environmental development.
The Law consists of the following Chapters: General Provisions (1); Approval of the Designated Areas for Aquaculture (2); Aquaculture Activities (3); Exercise of Aquaculture Activities (4); Environmental Impact (5); Data Collection (6); Decision-making Authorities and Consultative Bodies (7); Structural Policies (8); General Requirements and Responsibilities (9); Sanctions (10); Final Provisions (11).
The Law establishes the institutional and legal framework for the production and cultivation of water organisms and aquaculture in the Republic of Albania. The law is partially approximated with Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013 on the common Fisheries Policy. Law enforcement is exercised jointly by the fishery inspectorate and department as foreseen by Law 64/102 on fishery.
