Law No. 7991 amending Law No. 7846 of 1994 on the construction, administration, maintenance and operation of irrigation and drainage system.

This Law amends Law No. 7846 of 1994 on the construction, administration, maintenance and exploitation of irrigation and drainage systems by transferring the management responsibilities for the main irrigation and drainage systems to the District Water Directorates, which shall be responsible also for maintaining the main systems with their own financial resources. The interior irrigation and drainage systems that irrigate up to 15 hectares of agricultural land are to be maintained by water users’ associations with their own financial resources. Beneficiaries of both main and interior systems shall be charged with water tariffs as determined by the relevant acts.
