Law No. 8870 on amendments to Law No. 7908 of 1995 on Fishery and Aquaculture.

Particular amendments and addenda are hereby laid down to Law No. 7908 of 1995, which sets out the national legislative framework in matter of fisheries and aquaculture. The role of fisheries management organizations (i.e. organizations established pursuant to article 26 of the Civil Code, as provided in article 2 hereto) is strenghtened by envisaging its participation in the decision-making and comanagement of fishery resources. Moreover, the following three new Chapters are added after article 31: (VII/I) Fisheries Management Organizations; (VII/II) Transfer and operation of fishing ports and landing sites; (VII/III) Fisheries comanagement.
