Abstract
This Law aims at the prevention of human body disorders caused by iodine deficiency due to iodization of salt destined to human and animal consumption and its use in the food industry. The Law applies to salt producers and business operators. It consists of the following Chapters: (I) General provisions; (II) Criteria for salt quality and safety; (III) Inspection and monitoring of iodized salt; (IV) National Committee for the elimination of disorders caused by iodine deficiency; (V) Administrative offences. The State Sanitary Inspection under the Ministry of Health is the responsible inspection authority.
