The impact caused by economic activity on water resources depends on the amount of polluting substances, the level of permissible limit discharge of harmful substances and the period of their impact, as well as the volume of water resource use. There are two types of impact on water resources caused by economic activities: (a) direct impact, which is caused by the direct discharge of harmful substances into the water resource or the volume of water resource use; and (b) indirect, caused by the breakdown of the equipment of the water resource treatment plants and the harmful work due to inefficient work. with leakage of materials. The assessment of the impact caused by economic activity on water resources is based on the direct or indirect influence of polluting substances, the amount of polluting substances, the permissible limit discharge level of harmful substances, the period of impact, the costs of preventing and eliminating the effects of harmful substances, as well as the volume of water resource use. The assessment of the impact caused by economic activities on water resources includes compensation for quantitative and qualitative losses of products due to environmental pollution, additional services required for the restoration of polluted and (or) exhausted water resources due to the used volume of water resources, restoration of public health due to pollution and compensation costs for recovery of work due to reduction of labor productivity (including absenteeism), recovery of loss of industrial output due to the impact of pollution on fixed assets.
