Government Decision No. 927-N “On assessment of the estimates of water demand for domestic drinking purposes, agricultural purposes, as well as water discharges into environment according to the basin areas of the Republic of Armenia”.

This Government Decree validates: (a) assessment of water discharge into environment (Appendix No. 1); (b) assessment of water needs for drinking and domestic purposes (Appendix No. 2); and (c) water consumption standards for drinking and domestic purposes (Appendix No. 3). This assessment defines the methodology for determining the amount of water discharge into the environment. The volume of water discharge into the environment for each territory of the water basin is determined separately taking into account the specified methodology and hydromorphological, hydrogeographical, hydrochemical, hydrophysical, ecological and other characteristics of this river basin and is included in the water basin management plans. The amount of water discharge is taken as shall be determined on the basis of river has exploitation in natural conditions. When calculating the amount of water discharge into environmental, it is necessary to take into account the hydrological regime of the river, the geographical zone in which it is located, the form and degree of its economic use, the quantitative and qualitative composition of water and other factors. The demand for drinking and domestic purposes shall be calculated per person in liters depending on the type of water supply: (a) availability of water supply, sewerage, centralized hot water supply; (b) availability of plumbing, sewerage and gas heaters; and (c) absence of running water and sewerage.
