Governmental Decision No. 1667-N validating the Regulation on restoration, preservation and reproduction of fish stocks and crayfish (crustaceans) and total allowable catch thereof in Sevan Lake.

This Governmental Decision establishes the procedure related to the restoration, preservation and reproduction of fish stocks and crayfish (crustaceans) and total allowable catch thereof in Sevan Lake. It determines the maximum annual quantities of crayfish fishing for industrial purposes, characteristics of industrial fishing (fishing periods, terms of fishing contracts, permissible dimensions for fish, crayfish, weight per unit (cm/gram, description of fishing gear). The ways of reproduction and restoration of fish stocks, crayfish stocks in Lake Sana are: (a) complete breeding cycle: maternal organism - spawn - larva - small fry - maternal organism; (b) incomplete breeding cycle, including a part of the whole cycle, for example, maternal organism - spawn - larva - small fry; and (c) release of small fry into Lake Sevan and (or) the rivers of its catchment area. The basis for determining the fish stocks and crayfish in Lake Sana and the quantities of industrial fishing are the data of the inventory of natural fish stocks and crustaceans. Every year, the authorized body notifies the public through the mass media on the launch of the process of concluding contracts for the implementation of industrial fishing of fishes and crayfish in Lake Sevan on its official website. The application for concluding industrial fishing contract must contain the following information and data: (a) data of the applicant; (b) fish or crayfish species; (c) quantity; (d) location of fishing; (e) fishing period; (f) fishing gear; and (g) fishing vessel and number of fishermen aboard.
