Abstract
The Law regulates relations concerning the implementation and management of phytosanitary measures in the Republic of Armenia and establishes mandatory phytosanitary requirements and the main principles applicable to the production, storage, transportation and marketing of plants, plant products and other regulated articles, as well as the obligations of natural and legal persons engaged in these activities.
The Law provides for phytosanitary measures aimed at the detection, localization and eradication of quarantine and other harmful organisms and for the prevention of their penetration and spread within the territory of the Republic of Armenia. It establishes rules for phytosanitary examination, sampling for expertise and plant protection, as well as for the observance of phytosanitary requirements during import, export, re-export and transit transportation of plants, plant products and regulated articles.
The Law further regulates phytosanitary monitoring and control, including the establishment of plant quarantine in cases of detection of quarantine harmful organisms, and provides for compliance with phytosanitary rules and norms during the production and processing of plants and plant products and at points of sale throughout the territory of the country. It includes provisions on the registration and use of pesticides and agrochemicals and prohibits the import, production, sale and use of non-registered products.
