Executive Decree No. 227/17 approving the Regulation of the National Direction of Mines within the Ministry of Geology and Mining.

This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Direction of Mines within the Ministry of Geology and Mining. This Regulation, consisting of 4 Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned institution, entitled to: guarantee the implementation of the country's mining policy, the promotion and rational and sustainable use of mineral resources; coordinate all activities of exploitation, processing, transport and trade of mineral resources in the national territory; monitor authorized mining activities on the basis of annual plans, programmes for production, trade and investment; comply with the techniques respecting the environment, legislation and best practices applicable to the mining industry by mining operators; propose policy and other measures that contribute to rational exploitation of mineral resources; certify the movement of machinery or mining equipment that require the observance of specific safety standards; supervise the use of specific equipment and the technology used in the mining industry, its transportation, the storage of explosive materials for mining activities and other hazardous means and equipment; control and coordinate the export and transit of mineral resources from the mining exploration or processing intended for commercialization; create and keep up-to-date a technical database on the exploitation and commercialization of mineral resources; prepare maps of the mining operation in the country, etc.
