Abstract
This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Directorate of Forests within the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (DNF). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Directorate aimed at formulating, promoting and controlling the implementation of policies, strategies, plans, programmes and actions in the forestry sector. Under the competences established in article 17 of the Statute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, it is incumbent upon the National Forestry Directorate, in particular: a) propose development policies and strategies in the field of forests, wild fauna and related activities; b) develop policy studies aimed at the conservation and sustainable management of forest, wildlife and beekeeping resources; c) ensure the elaboration and implementation of methodological norms aimed at preventing deforestation, forest degradation and desertification; d) promote the expansion of the forestry areas and issuing opinions on afforestation and reforestation plans, aiming at their inclusion in the national forest heritage and the conservation of terrestrial biodiversity, etc.
